Ticket to Ride Asia available in U.S.

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Ticket to Ride Asia – the first volume in the Ticket to Ride Map Collection – goes on sale tomorrow (Wednesday, Nov 16) in retail stores throughout North America.

This expansion to the popular Ticket to Ride series features two different maps on a double-sided board. In Team Asia, 4 or 6 players collaborate in two-player teams to complete shared Destination Tickets. On the flip side,  Legendary Asia features a new Asian Explorer bonus for connecting the most cities and takes 2-5 players through hazardous Mountain Routes that force you to discard a train (the Himalayas are hard on rail cars!) You’ll need trains and train cards from either Ticket to Ride or Ticket to Ride Europe to play.

Make some time to visit your friendly local game store this week and pick up Ticket to Ride Asia. If you’ve pre-ordered from the Days of Wonder web store your shipment will also leave the station by tomorrow. Learn more on the Ticket to Ride Asia web page.

In North America, Ticket to Ride India will be available in the first half of January. The US web store will begin taking pre-orders on December 8.

Get ready for new Train Adventures!

Monday, August 29th, 2011

To celebrate the ever-growing Ticket to Ride player community and Days of Wonder’s upcoming 10-year anniversary, the company organized a $10,000 Ticket to Ride Map Design Contest. 612 Ticket to Ride fans and aspiring game designers from 40 different countries submitted their own maps for a chance to win the $10,000 cash prize. Perhaps even more exciting was the possibility of seeing their design published in the Ticket to Ride Map Collection to be officially introduced at Essen SPIEL 2011, alongside a brand new team-play map accommodating up to 6 players, created by original Ticket to Ride game designer, Alan R. Moon. (more…)

Ticket to Ride iPad 1.1 update released

Monday, July 11th, 2011

Players spoke… we listened.  The new 1.1 update to Ticket to Ride for iPad is now available through the App Store and it’s filled with all kinds of improvements. Here’s the short list:

  • Pass-and-Play: You can now play alongside up to 4 of your friends with your iPad! You can even mix real players and robots. You can view the actions taken by others on their previous turn, including the specific routes they claim.
  • You can now mute voices (Go to Settings in the Mechanic’s room).
  • You can skip various animations by tapping the screen (e.g. start up, Ticket completion, end-of-game with fast-forward skip button on the side).
  • Better support for colorblind players (icons on cards and routes in zoomed mode). Buttons in Central Station now have names for easier navigation.
  • You can now set the number of players when creating an online game from the Restaurant.
  • When you choose Tickets, cities of the currently selected Tickets are highlighted in blue for easier planning before confirming your choices.
  • Just-in-time log in: to avoid problems for players with poor Wi-fi connections, Ticket to Ride now logs on to the Days of Wonder server only at the last moment, and only when necessary. We also added an automatic quick recovery in case of connection loss.
  • Several crashing bugs have been fixed and there are also a variety of user interface usability improvements.

For a more detailed list, check out the App Store description:  or simply launch the application on your iPad to get the new version.
