A quick visual guide

Days of Wonder developed several features dedicated to Facebook users. If you are among them, reading this short guide will show you how to best share your Days of Wonder Online experience with all your friends! But read on…

Linking Your Two Accounts

The first task is to link your Facebook account and your Days of Wonder Online together. This is accomplished in just 2 clicks.

• If you already have a Days of Wonder Online account: log in with your Login Name and password on the Days of Wonder site at http://www.daysofwonder.com. Then click on the little “f” Facebook icon in the upper right corner of the page, and follow the simple Facebook instructions.

• If you don’t have a Days of Wonder Online account: As a Facebook user, you can create your own Days of Wonder Online in just one click to learn and play all our Online games: Ticket to Ride, etc… We will use the information stored in your Facebook profile to automatically create your Days of Wonder Online account (and no worry - you will be able to update or change any of this information later, in your Days of Wonder account settings). To create your account, just go to the Days of Wonder web site at http://www.daysofwonder.com/signup/fb_invite and click on the big “Connect with Facebook” blue button and follow the Facebook instructions. That’s it!

Linking your FaceBook and Days of Wonder Online accounts accomplishes 2 things:
- First, it will allow you to play on the Days of Wonder web site without worrying about your password. If you are logged in Facebook, you will be automatically logged in your Days of Wonder Online account as well.
- Second, this lets you access the Days of Wonder Online application inside Facebook.

Playing on Days of Wonder Online

When you create your Days of Wonder Online account, you automatically gain 4 free trial games to each of:
-    Ticket to Ride Online (base game)
-    Ticket to Ride Online expansions (Ticket to Ride Europe, Ticket to Ride Switzerland and the 1910 expansion)
-    Gang of Four Online

Once your trial games have expired, you will be given the chance to purchase any/all of these games on a permanent basis via the payment of a single, modest one-time fee to keep playing with all your friends.

The Days of Wonder Online application in Facebook

Connecting your Facebook and your Days of Wonder accounts automatically enables the Days of Wonder Online application in your Facebook account. To see it:

• In the search box, type “Days of Wonder Online” to go to your application profile. Then click on “Go to Application”.

• or from your Applications menu at the bottom, click on “Days of Wonder Online”

Bookmarking the Days of Wonder Online application

Now is a good time to bookmark the application, to make sure you can access it easily. To do so, open your Applications bottom menu, and simply drag-and-drop the Days of Wonder Online icon to the Bookmarks zone. The little Days of Wonder Online icon will appear in your bottom bar.

Using the Days of Wonder Online application

The Days of Wonder Online application works like a “Facebook window” into your Days of Wonder Online gaming, letting you share your score, rank and other gaming exploits with your friends.

My Score and Rank

This panel shows your worldwide ranking at the Days of Wonder Online games that you played.

My Place

Two ranking lists appear at the bottom. One shows how you are ranked among your Facebook friends. The other one shows where you are ranked among all the Facebook players.
Note: at the beginning, you will probably be alone in the first list. Make sure you invite your friends to discover the Days of Wonder Online games and make some friendly competition inside your group of friends!

The Tabs

At the top, you will find several tabs:

• “My Scores & Ranks”: the default display of the application.
• “Invite my Friends”: use this to send invitations to your friends.
• “Post a DOW Story”: this allows you to post a story about your online gaming.
• “News”: the latest news, from the Days of Wonder News Blog.
• “Pages”: a list of Facebook pages and links that you will find fun or useful.
• “Help”: this guide.
• “About”: the application description in Facebook.

Posting DOW Stories

Days of Wonder Online keeps track of your games history. Using this information, we can help you write fun messages announcing your new hard-fought victory to your friends, or helping you brag about your success beating another Facebook user.

• Click on the “Post a DOW Story…” button. A new page appears, suggesting preset messages.
• Choose a message. You can change its content if you like. Then click the Publish button.
• Facebook shows a confirmation dialog. You may add a comment text at the top. Confirm and voilà!

Suggested stories vary in content, and are based on your recent gaming activity. Some stories will appear only once in your lifetime, some others will come back on a regular basis (like the ranking announcement).

Posting DOW Stories Even Faster

You should see the little Days of Wonder Online icon in your Wall and Home pages, below the “What’s on your mind?” box. Clicking on it opens a panel that works exactly like the full dialog. Very convenient!

Not seeing the DOW Online Story icon? If you have many applications in your account, the Days of Wonder Online icon will not appear in the pop-up menu. Facebook shows the first 5 applications that you use the most. Simply publish a few DOW Stories using the application, and the icon will start appearing magically!

Posting DOW Stories Automatically

After you played a bit with the DOW Stories, you can choose to have them published automatically to your Wall. In the application, click on the “Publish my DOW Stories automatically” link, and confirm your choice.
Note: we won’t flood your Wall! At the very most, you will get one message every 4 days, regardless of how many games you may end up playing on our site. Depending on how often you play, the frequency of these automated posts could be quite lower. For example, the ranking announcement is published once a week only. And of course, none of this shouldn’t prevent you from posting your own achievements yourself, using the methods described earlier
You can always turn off this feature at any time by using the standard application settings dialog in Facebook.

Adding DOW Online in your Profile

Doing well at Ticket to Ride Online? What about showing it off in your Profile Wall?

Creating a DOW Online Tab

Go to your Profile, and click on the “+” tab. Select the “DOW Online” icon. That’s it!

A new tab will appear in your Profile, showing a simplified version of application display:

Creating a Profile Box

You can make your ranking even more visible to people who visit your Profile page! Create a Profile Box in the lower left column:

• Go to the Days of Wonder application.
• Click on the “Add to Profile” button.

• Using the default settings, confirm on the dialog that appears.

• Facebook will take you to your Profile, and show you the result. Confirm by pressing the “Keep” button.

Other Interesting Facebook Pages

There are several pages in Facebook around the universe of Days of Wonder board games and online games. We strongly recommend that you become “fans” of them - many are official Days of Wonder pages, which we scour from time to time to offer special gifts or contests to our fan base. This way, you will also stay informed of what is happening inside the community: tournaments, contests, new games, etc. After all, isn’t Facebook about keeping in touch with friends who share your interests?
