Comment on Merlin’s Company - available for preorder in the US Store by Yann http://blog.daysofwonder.com/2008/07/08/merlins-company-available-for-preorder-in-the-us-store/en/#comment-3539 Yann Tue, 08 Jul 2008 16:01:25 +0000 http://blog.daysofwonder.com/?p=815#comment-3539 Dear Kjetil: Our Scandinavian distributor, Enigma, should receive his copies any day: they were shipped from Germany last week. So I suggest you contact them to find about Oslo retailers who are going to carry the product. See http://www.enigmadistribution.dk/ You may also order the product from our European Web Store (careful, Norway is a bit down in the pop-up list of countries). Be aware that there will be shipping fees and customs fees, because even if Norway is located in Europe, it is not part of the European Union, despite our best efforts ;-) Hoping this information will be useful to you, Best, Yann Dear Kjetil:

Why is that? Norway is still in Europe, also by DoW standards? I can’t find Merlin’s Company in Oslo, Norway; not in stores or online board game shops. Why is that? Comment on Ticket to Ride Nordic Countries - Worldwide release this fall! by ColtsFan76 http://blog.daysofwonder.com/2008/07/07/ticket-to-ride-nordic-countries-worldwide-release-this-fall/en/#comment-3537 ColtsFan76 Tue, 08 Jul 2008 11:37:47 +0000 http://blog.daysofwonder.com/?p=807#comment-3537 Funny how the comments at the time made it sound like this was an exclusive and would remain so. But seeing the old blog post proves otherwise. I wish that DOW would release these as expansion packs as well similar to the Switzerland map. I have no need for a complete game that is fairly similar to the ones I have. But if it was a reduced price for just the board, the destination tickets, and any additional pieces (for Europe and Maklin), I would buy the rest of them. I don't need the revised art on the train cards or the new train colors; I'd rather just reuse what I can of the base game and have the new boards for variety. See this link... http://blog.daysofwonder.com/2007/09/03/ticket-to-ride-nordic-countries/en/ In this same link, DOW also explained that one reason for limiting the release of Nordic involved the fact that Nordic's gameplay was too close to the Swiss expansion (which was about to be released at the time), and they feared that having both maps at the same time would saturate the market. I don't think there was ill intent here by DOW. I am just glad they are providing the english version. In a DOW blog, they left open the possibility of a worldwide release. See this link…

They should at least retheme, remake not just a language difference, extremely dissapointed and an absoultely boneheaded decision sure to alienate more than please. extremely dissapointed in this decision, as one of the few how paid more for this upon their statement never to be released. It seems to me that a lot of people that thought they were getting an exclusive copy of their home nation, and those who paid a lot of money to get this imported, might be upset. I am just curious to know why DOW changed their mind on this one. (Besides the obvious answer of they have a game and can make money on it). I already have one of the previous editions, so would there be a way to order just the english rules (I know they are available elsewhere, I just like it when things match) That is great news. Beautiful snow-covered winter trains! I own this game (import, non-English version) and I love the art and I love how it plays too.
