The Ticket to Ride World Championship will take place on June 19 in the Musée de la Carte à Jouer in Issy-les-Moulineaux. The national champions will play several games on the various maps of Ticket to Ride – the best of them will then be declared Ticket to Ride World Champion and win a trip for two on the legendary Orient-Express!

The Trictrac team and Days of Wonder offer you the opportunity to follow this event live! The championship will be broadcasted on www.trictrac.tv and on our website, on the Ticket to Ride World Championship page.

Of course, if you prefer, you can also attend the Championship in the Musée de la Carte à Jouer. The champions need you to support them!

Schedule:

12:00 p.m. – 1st Round on Ticket to Ride Märklin Edition
1:15 p.m. – 2nd Round on Ticket to Ride Europe
2:30 p.m. – Break
3:00 p.m. - 3rd Round on Ticket to Ride

A first ranking will then be established:
• Ranking points
• Number of victories
• Combined scores

The four best players will then play the semi-finals.
4:00 p.m. - Semi-Finals on Ticket to Ride (1st against 4th and 2nd against 3rd)

The winners of the Semi-Finals will then play the Final
6:00 p.m. – Final
7:30 p.m. – Award Ceremony

This is it! The 8 finalists who will compete in the first ever Ticket to Ride World Championship have now been determined. Soon they will all be on their way to Paris.

On Saturday June 19th, the le Musée de la Carte à Jouer (Card Game Museum) at Issy-les-Moulineaux, will host the inaugural Ticket to Ride World Championship. The 8 national champions will fiercely compete on the various Ticket to Ride maps to claim the title and win the grand prize – a fabulous journey on the Orient Express.

The 8 players are:

- Eric Miller, who won the North American championship on April the 10th in Columbus, OH

- Jay Fox, the North American runner-up

- Krystian Romanowski, Polish champion on April the 17th in Gdansk

- Rémi Bec, French champion on April the 25th in Toulouse

- Pere Garriga Solé, Spanish champion on May the 15th in Madrid

- Jürgen Grauer, German champion on May the 15th in Herne

- Patrick Deckers, Benelux champion on May the 29th in Bruxelles

- Ian Andrew Vincent, UK champion on June the 5th in Birmingham

Congratulation to all of the finalists for getting this far. We’re sure they are in the midst of intensive training to prepare themselves for the Ticket to Ride Championship.

As they will all want your support on the day of the championship, we will soon announce a surprise that will allow you to follow your favorites during the event!

How big? Is a new Apple iPad – complete with a copy of Small World for iPad – big enough! That’s what the winner of the 20 millionth Days of Wonder Online game will get!  And each of the other players in that game will each receive a new Apple iPod Touch!

Every registered member is eligible and while it will take a lot of luck, the only thing you need to do is play any of your favorite Days of Wonder Online games. These include any of the Ticket to Ride games, Gang of Four, Fist of Dragonstones or Queen’s Necklace. The more you play, the more chances you have to win.  Your game can only include “live” players (no bots) and your game must be completed. We’ll contact the lucky winners via email within 7 days after the 20 Millionth game is completed. You can read the complete contest rules here.

Because of the high volume of online games played and the varying speeds of web page updates, it’s highly unlikely that the online game counter on the home page will exactly reflect the current game being started. So trying to time your game exactly is probably not an effective strategy. Just keep playing and good luck!

The Online Team at Days of Wonder

The Ticket to Ride North American Championship was held this past weekend at Alan Moon’s annual Gathering of Friends event in Columbus Ohio. 16 players who qualified in previous events in both the US and Canada were there to battle for the championship and a chance to win the trip to Paris to compete in the World Championship in June.

Friday’s qualifying round was made up of three, 4-player games of Ticket to Ride. The first game was Ticket to Ride Europe, followed by Ticket to Ride US map, and finally the 1910 variant. The top 8 players were ranked based on their overall performance in those qualifying games and seeded 1 through 8 for the next day’s quarterfinal matches.

Moving on to Saturday were:
#1 David Belew (won all three games)
#2 Thomas Vilfroy (also won all three games)
#3 Kyle Greenwood
#4 Erik Miller
#5 Duncan McGregor
#6 Charles Rucker
#7 Linda Lait
#8 Jay Fox

The next day these 8 players were matched up in 2-player, best 2 out of 3 matches on the standard Ticket to Ride US map. Immediately there were big upsets as both the #8 seed, Jay Fox and #7 seed, Linda Lait took out the two top ranked players. Kyle Greenwood and Erik Miller also moved onto the semi’s. 

As befitting a North American Championship, the semi finals featured two Canadians, Eric Miller from Vancouver and Linda Lait from Lethbridge, Alberta; while Jay Fox from Philadelphia was matched against Kyle Greenwood from Las Vegas. The cards were not with Kyle this day, as Jay defeated him in two straight games to move onto the finals. The all-Canadian match went the distance however, with Eric triumphing over Linda in the decisive third game.

With both finalists now guaranteed a trip to the World Championships in Paris, the finals match was for bragging rights, the Championship trophy and a set of 45 Gold trains; while the runner-up would get a set of Silver trains and the 2nd place trophy. While the matches were closer than the scores indicate, Erik Miller was triumphant, taking the Championship,in two games by scores of 136-114 and 124 to 111.

In the consolation match for third place, Kyle Greenwood defeated Linda Lait and took home the Bronze train set and third place trophy.

Mystery Express goes on sale today (March 31) in retail stores throughout North America. Not only is the new game now available, but participating retailers also have Mystery Express Whodunit Clue Cards – postcard-sized cards that contain lots of clues for the Whodunit contest. If you are looking for clues, you’ll find both visual and textual clues for the contest on the card. It’ll make your detective work that much easier and you can only get it from participating game stores.
