Ticket to Ride Map Contest Update

We’re midway through the $10,000 Ticket to Ride Map Design Contest. During the submission phase hundreds of entries poured into our Paris and California offices. The variety of entries was impressive; but after many hours spent reviewing the submissions we were able to narrow them down to those that were so intriguing we just had to play test them. All their authors have been contacted and we’ve received their complete maps.

We’re now in the midst of reviewing and playing these “finalists” and are quite excited by what we’ve seen. No matter which map ultimately wins, Ticket to Ride fans will be in for a treat once they get to play it this fall. While the winning designer will be selected and contacted before the end of June, we’re keeping the winning map under wraps until we reveal the new Ticket to Ride Map Collection in October.

A Few Map Design Contest Stats…

Number of entries: 612 total

Darn it! (but congratulations to the finalists!)

I felt pretty good about my submission. I do look forward to seeing what others have done.

    How many finalists were selected?

  2. Eric Kolb says:

Bittersweet news. I expect great things from the finalists!

  3. Stewart says:

And I thought my 2-sided TTR: Moon map would be unique! If you go that route, I hope you still use a 2-sided moon map. It makes so much sense!

  4. Tyler says:

Stupid question – but are you going to release who made it to the 2nd phase for those of us paranoid that our spam filter caught the email?

  5. Jason says:

Doh! Well, at least my Atlantis theme idea got mentioned – that’s something, eh?

  6. Edward says:

Bittersweet indeed. My congratulations to those who made the cut.

  7. jeremy says:

is there any place I can see all the submissions ?

  8. Phil says:

Hey, I was hoping for my underground idea to go one better but a mention’s better than nothing.

  9. Lord Nibbler says:

Guess my team-play world map; around the world in 80 days theme didn’t make the cut 🙁

Congratulations to those going forward to the next round and anyone whose idea is mentioned on the post above.

  10. Jason says:

Bummer (for me and my Ticket to Ride Eureka – California Gold Rush map), but congrats to the finalists! Can’t wait to add another map to my collection.

  11. Bev K says:

Congrats to the finalists! And yeah, bummer to me also…my TransSiberian Railway didn’t make the cut. Can’t wait to see the newest map!

  12. Michael says:

Dying to see the Transylvania map!

  13. ni.kolet says:

I think, that I´m not alone, who want to know the finalist and their topic of the map.

  14. Brandon says:

Darn! I guess my “TTR: Your Basic Circle Around a Christmas Tree” map didn’t make the cut.

  15. Nicholas says:

I kind of knew that my attempt at a map based on the Trans-Siberian railway was a bit of a longshot.

  16. Peter says:

I proposed a map based on the London Underground, and guess if I was surprised when I this weekend found a game called “On the Underground” that I’d never seen before – and it was almost a photocopy of the map I made!

Anyway, congratulations to all of you that made it to the finals! Can’t wait to see this map-pack.

  17. Ben says:

Congrats to the finalists. I just can’t wait to see the map pack no matter what the maps are.
