Wonder(ous) Stories Game Giveaway

Connect to Facebook and tell us a Days of Wonder game story there for a chance to win a free Days of Wonder game!

From September 29th through October 13th we’re giving away 1 Free Board Game a Day! All you need to do is post a story about your game play on your Facebook page.

Back in our development lab, the Days of Wonder tech guys have been having a little too much fun lately – they built this cool little Facebook application that connects your DOW Online account to your Facebook page. When you add the Days of Wonder Online Facebook app to your Facebook page it automatically:

  • connects all your Ticket to Ride or Gang of Four Online game play history to your Facebook Wall;
  • displays your scores and rank, which is really nice when you are ranked higher than one of your Facebook friends;
  • lets you invite your Facebook friends to play online;
  • displays the DOW news and Facebook Game pages;
  • and lets you easily (automatically if you want) post a DOW Game story on your Wall, so you can gloat when you win… or moan when you lose.

And telling the story of your online game battles – or for that matter any interesting story about Days of Wonder games – is pretty much all you need to do to enter the drawing for the free Days of Wonder game. Each day of the contest, we’ll draw a name at random from all of the people who posted a story using the DOW Online Facebook application on their wall, with the winner getting to pick the game of their choice from our own web store.

So here are the 3 easy steps to enter the contest:

  1. Make sure your Facebook Account and DOW Online account are linked together and add the DOW Online Application to your Facebook page. To do so, follow the instructions on the “Using Days of Wonder Online inside Facebook” page. Note that if you are still living in 2007 and don’t yet have a Facebook account, you can Create a New Facebook Account.
  2. Go beat someone (or lose heroically) at Ticket to Ride or Gang of Four Online.
  3. Come back to the Days of Wonder Online Facebook page and use the DOW Online App to post a DOW story. You can use the pre-written posts that are in the app, or create your own.

For every day you post a DOW story, you are eligible for that day’s drawing for a new Board Game. It’s that simple.

Rules – the small print…

  • Stories posted using the DOW Facebook Application between 12:00 Midnight and 11:59PM (Eastern standard time) will be eligible to participate in that day’s drawing for the free Days of Wonder game of their choice if it is currently available. (Yes we’ll pay the shipping to your house, even if you live in Antarctica.)
  • Anyone registered with Days of Wonder Online is eligible to participate (except those who live in jurisdictions where this type of drawing is prohibited, and anyone who is an employee, family member or otherwise affiliated with Days of Wonder).
  • An individual may only win once during the duration of the contest (let someone else have a chance!)
  • The daily winner will be announced on the Days of Wonder Facebook page. At the end of the contest, the complete list of winners will be published on the Days of Wonder news blog.
  • The previous day’s winner will be announced the next day, except possibly on weekends, when we all sleep in and you have to wait until Monday.
  • You agree to keep your DOW Story on your page until the contest ends and that it’s okay for us to post your story online (and if your post is offensive, we can remove it and throw it in the trash where it belongs).
  • Note that the number of DOW Stories available each day may be limited. It depends on your on-line gaming activity, the on-line games that you activated on your account, etc. To be sure to have at least one DOW Story available every day, it is recommended that you play at least one online game each day with another Facebook user or friend.

So what are you waiting for? Get playing and post a story. You just might win a Days of Wonder game tomorrow!

    Yes I first got a ticket to ride game, and gave it to my kids I was to busy to play a board game. One night they brought the game over for my husband and myself to play with them, and I got hooked on it, I wanted to play it more with my husband, but I could not afford too purchase another one, so now I have to wait until my kids ask us if we want to play, Of corse I say oh yes please I always loose, but it has become my most favorite game. I wait for them to bring it over so I can play again. I would love to own one for myself, we would play it all the time.

  2. Max Layton says:

    I first discovered ticket to ride with my cousin, and being grubby little sons of business men, we immediately decided to come up with a way to add money into the game. At first we were just joking around but it turned out to create an entire new level of gameplay. Each person would receive $500 at the beginning of the game. There were four things one could do with their money they were:
    1: for $100 one could purchase a “phantom” color card if they could not be bothered to wait for their color to come round.
    2: for $200 you could buy an extra train if at the end you were just short of completing your ticket card.
    3: If someone blocked your track you could offer them money to rent out a spot next to them.
    4: for every $100 a person had at the end of the game they got 2 points. (we did a little math with the point values for tracks and decide this would be most appropriate).
    It was fun to come with the rules and We’ve been coming up with board game ideas and alterations since.

  3. Jesse says:

    If I play a board game like Memoir ’44 or Shadows Over Camelot, is there a way for me to post it on Facebook and be entered for the drawing? Or does it have to be an online game?

    Great idea!

  4. Coralee says:

    Ticket to Ride Europe edition has become our family favorite – we often play in the evening before the kids go to bed… our 4 year old just wishes he was old enough to join in!

  5. Sophie says:

    damned… I CANT PARTICIPATE. Eric, you are mean 😉

    Lorre, Max and Coralee:

    Thanks for your testimonies, but just to make sure that everything is clear, this blog is not the right location to post your “DoW Story”. You specifically need to go to your Facebook account, add the Days of Wonder Online application to your account, and use the “Post a DoW Story” link in the application. Only this will enter you in the drawing for the same day.
    The Days of Wonder Online Facebook application can be found here: http://apps.facebook.com/dow_online/

    The name of this company, “Days of Wonder” its amaizing…. we play al months in a group of euro games players called EL FARO and one of my favorite games is Ticket to Ride, cause its very easy to learn, but have a lot of strategy. So we where plating and some little boy ask us…. that chips are chocolate?????? and we dont understand why he ask that…. when we seeee he had a little train of chocolate that his father “lover of ticket to ride” has given to him.

  8. Shawn says:

    Is it only one entry per day? Or will multiple posts be considered multiple entries?

  9. Justin says:
